Ostranauts is a hardcore space-salvage sim where the ship is the character.
This page explains what the game is, who makes it, and what this field manual exists for.
The game
Ostranauts is a noir-flavoured space simulation by Blue Bottle Games, the studio behind NEO Scavenger. You play a broke crew chief who buys a rundown ship, takes salvage licenses, and flies to derelict vessels to strip them for parts, then sells the scrap to keep the mortgage, fuel, and crew paid. Physics, pressure, heat, radiation, debt, and morale all fight against you.
The loop
Each run starts with character creation, a starter ship, and a bill that comes due every shift. You dock with derelicts, manage your crew and their needs, hack doors, haul cargo, and decide what is worth keeping. Systems like the reactor, signal box, airlock, and cargo web have real mechanical depth, which is exactly why players keep searching for answers.
Why this site exists
The in-game tutorial covers only the first few hours. This field manual collects the questions players actually search, including console commands, item codes, broken systems, mods, and translations, into short, sourced answers. It is a fan resource, not an official wiki.

Quick answers agents ask most often.
Is this wiki official?
No. This is an independent fan resource for Ostranauts, built from public sources: official store pages, developer posts, Steam discussions, and community references. It is not affiliated with Blue Bottle Games.
Does Ostranauts have multiplayer or co-op?
At Version 1.0, Ostranauts is a single-player experience. Your crew is made of AI/NPC characters you hire and manage; there is no online co-op mode.
Where do the console commands come from?
From the in-game F3 console, the official Debug reference, and Steam community threads. Every command page lists its source and the game version it was verified on.
Why are some item counts approximate?
Item indexes are built from public game data and community mapping. Counts are launch-scale context, not a live guarantee that every row is authored.
Which languages does this site cover?
English, Russian, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese. Each language section covers community translation patches: install steps and known issues only, no downloads hosted here.
