What it does

A breaker panel for doors and sensors.

The signal box controls power routing and logic for connected devices. A box fresh out of the crate has no connections: you wire it up.

The wiki categorises the SB-8011 Signal Box under Power. Each installed box has breakers for devices, a main breaker, and an input gate selector that changes behaviour based on how many boxes are chained to it.

Common first-run mistake: installing the box, wiring the door, and expecting it to work: then the door sits open or the box beeps because individual breakers were never toggled.

Fixes

Work through this order.

Power first, breakers second, logic third.

  1. Confirm the signal box has power: check the ship battery and the reactor or power bus feeding it.
  2. Toggle the main breaker off, set each individual breaker you want (door / sensor), then toggle the main breaker back on.
  3. Check the input gate selector: with multiple boxes connected, the logic changes depending on how many inputs are active.
  4. Verify the sensor: if a sensor still reports a trigger, the door will re-open no matter what the breaker says.
  5. Still stuck? Uninstall the box (power off first), reinstall it, and re-wire. A reload fixes most reports of sticky doors.
FAQ

Common questions

Why does my signal box keep the door open?

The signal box is the breaker panel for doors and sensors. Check that power reaches the box, that the door's breaker is on, and that the box has connections: a freshly installed box starts with none. Community threads also note the default door switching behaviour is a common complaint; flipping the main breaker off, setting individual breakers, then flipping it back on re-spreads signals correctly.

Why is my signal box beeping?

Beeping usually means a sensor or breaker state changed while the box was unpowered or while the door was in a conflicting state. Verify power and re-check the breakers before assuming a bug.

Is the signal box bugged?

Some players report sticky door behaviour and a metadata bug where renaming a signal box hides its on/off state. A reload or uninstall/reinstall of the box fixes most reports.

How do I make a door stay closed?

Confirm the door breaker is off (or the input gate is set to the state you want), then check the sensor feeding the door. Doors will re-open if a sensor still reports a trigger.

Can I uninstall a signal box safely?

Cut power first, then uninstall. Uninstalling powered devices can damage them: the same rule applies to transponders and reactors.
